Why agents change the job
Assistants now recommend. Agents act: they compare options, fill in forms and book on a buyer's behalf. A site an agent cannot read or use gets skipped, however good its answer.
The ten checks
| # | Check | Passes when |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Key facts readable | Services, markets, eligibility and contact details are in page text, not only in images or scripts |
| 2 | Clear next step | Quote, enquiry, booking or contact routes are plain links or simple forms |
| 3 | Forms an agent can complete | Labelled fields and no hidden required steps; spam protection that does not block every automated visitor |
| 4 | Booking without email loops | A direct calendar or booking link where the firm takes meetings |
| 5 | Stable addresses | Product and service pages keep the same web addresses; old ones redirect |
| 6 | Structured facts | Organisation, product and FAQ data marked up so machines read them reliably |
| 7 | llms.txt | A current file describing what the firm does, for whom and where |
| 8 | Accessible pages | Headings, labels and alternative text in place |
| 9 | Conditions stated | Where rules allow, eligibility, scope and commercial conditions are stated plainly |
| 10 | Machine channel | An intake email or API that accepts structured requests, where the business suits it |
For regulated firms
Points 9 and 10 go through compliance first. Results feed the Fix list in step 3.

Frequently asked questions
Do agents matter yet?
They are early. The checks take little work and most also help people and assistants, so we treat them as preparation rather than a source of results today.
Is llms.txt required?
No assistant requires it today. It is low effort and a clear statement of what you do, so we include it.
